iGEM
The International Genetically Engineered Machinery (iGEM) is a worldwide synthetic biology competition originating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Boston, USA), first held in 2003. It is a great opportunity for students from different majors to tackle major health, environmental or energy challenges with the help of synthetic biology.
Synthetic biology is an interdisciplinary field of research, which reprograms and rewires living systems such as bacteria, viruses, and many more to change or add new functions and properties.
This autumn, the iGEM Giant Jamboree gathering for all competing teams will be held in Paris, making it the pioneering non-US event.
